In fall 2016, Dr. Josiane Hickson of Berkeley college developed a program that would allow Licensed Practitioner Nurses) LPN to attain a bachelor's of science degree in nursing (B.S.N.). This is the only on-site program of its kind currently existing in New Jersey. Berkeley in collaboration with Union County College has started the program due to the rising demand for students to have a bachelor degree to obtain employment and the increasing demand for registered nurses in the United States.
Both students and staff have stated that though the program is lovely, it is also a strict program. Students who plan to attend this program must be prepared to have a rigorous schedule with very little wiggle room. Professors will challenge students to do their best and invest in them to ensure that they are able to grasp all of the information the program, has to offer.
The program allows students that have graduated with an LPN license from an accredited Practical Nursing Program with the U.S. to apply. However, students are only accepted once a year and just in the fall semester.
