In Need for Hispanics in Health Care
The Health Care industry
is seeing a significant change to the presence in the market and the job
opportunities. The Hispanic population
is expected to grow by 20 million people which is three times larger than any other
racial group in the United States. To
put it into perspective, by 2020, one out of five Americans will be of Hispanic
origin. With the increase in health care
coverage across the United States to the public, due to the Affordable Health
Care act, the demand for bilingual health care workers will be on the rise
too.
In the United States, only
10% of the work force in the Health Care industry of Hispanic decent. The low percentage of Hispanic doctors, nurses, phlebotomists, and home health aides, does not meet the numbers necessary to
service the increasing population.
According to Modern Health Care and Forbes, health care coverage strategies have been
employed throughout the United States to implement strategies in order to
educate, certify, and add to the services for the Hispanic population. The more
prominent tools have involved technological tools, such as portals or courses
in Spanish, to help educate and expand access to patients and workers
alike.
