An Affordable Way to get an Education and a Career
A wise person once told me "think smart, not hard." This is exactly what we need today. The student-debt crisis is a major issue for 2018. Millions of students are learning the hard way that education in America is not free and nothing in this life is guaranteed either. With expectations high, graduates are finding it difficult to cope with the debt and the lack of employment opportunities. For many, there were promises of a better career, more pay. However, these promises were met with employment issues and major debt! Sadly, a good number of students will spend years, after they graduate, trying to pay the debt off which means less money for houses and families later on. Ouch!
Education is Valuable
What is the problem then? We are told every day that education is the source of happiness, and this is definitely true. Did something change in recent years? Is education not valuable? I will be the first to admit that education is more valuable than one realizes, but maybe not in the way we are used to. Absolutely! It is valuable. The problem is education is a wide spectrum which public schools have tried to box to a four-year degree.
In other words, pay for a bachelor's degree and you will be considered successful. This is the problem with education in the United States. The important jobs are not appreciated in society. You'd be surprised what positions are available and are more affordable too. I wish I had known about an alternative route when I graduated high school. It would have solved a ton of headaches. Thankfully, I am able to share this knowledge with you.
Trade-Skill Crisis
There is a trade-skill crisis. Yup, you read it right. There are plenty of jobs out there, but no one is taking them. Truck drivers are needed more than ever. Personally, having known an uncle who spent most of his days on the road, truck drivers can earn a salary of $80,000 or more. The only requirement they need, in most states, is a valid trucking license. If that was not sad enough, there are medical careers in the United States in desperate need of people. Nurse Aides, Phlebotomists, and Nurses are among the highest positions begging for employees, yet they often go ignored because of the negative stigma associated with the field.
Trade-skills are nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, most trade professionals like what they do and see their work as a contribution to society. A Home Health Aide once told me, I love what I do because I know I am making someone else's life easier, and I enjoy the flexible hours that I have.
A sneak peak...
How You Can Get An Education and a Career for an Affordable Price
If you want to opt for the four-year degree, here is a suggestion for you. Healthcare and I.T are among the biggest, in-demand fields today. Trade schools are everywhere, but they are not equal. Unfortunately, some trade schools have received a bad reputation due to scams. There are legitimate vocational schools in the United States who have excellent reputations with assisting their graduates with employment.
The average cost of a four-year degree is about $23,000 for a public college. A trade school will often charge you anywhere from $400 to $15,000 for the trade depending on the type of trade you are after. In college, you pay for unnecessary classes and requirements. As for a trade, you are trained specifically for the job which makes you a professional immediately after completion. The investment is not as high, yet the return in a career is about the same.
I will go ahead and add more reasons as to why a trade school is an affordable way to go. The average length of a 4-year school is 4-5 years. You can complete a program in less time at a trade school and earn a good salary which can then be used to pay for a 4-year degree if you are interested in pursuing one. I've seen trade school programs end in as little as 3-weeks. You cannot beat the time spent in school.
You should seriously consider going to a trade school and utilizing this knowledge to avoiding the debt crisis. When you make money, you want that money to be yours!
